Renate BiernatA partner in the firm, Douglas A. Lange concentrates his practice in the areas of loss recovery/subrogation, first-party property coverage, products liability, and construction litigation. He also has experience in the areas of automobile negligence, transportation law, and has represented plaintiffs in a variety of personal injury matters. His subrogation practice has involved large losses in a wide variety of settings including boilers and pressure vessels, electrical and mechanical failures, generator and turbine failures, explosions, roofing and construction negligence, and utility claims on a national and international basis. Mr. Lange has also served as defense counsel in construction litigation, casualty defense, transportation, municipal liability, civil rights, and legal malpractice claims.

Mr. Lange is an experienced trial attorney and has tried cases in both federal and state courts across the country. He obtained a defense verdict in a legal malpractice claim in which plaintiffs sought more than $10 million after plaintiff and his nationally established brokerage firm were permanently expelled from the NFA. Recently, Mr. Lange obtained a unanimous jury verdict in a complex property subrogation case against a local utility and a prominent contractor in federal court in Gulfport, Mississippi. Education
Mr. Lange earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1989, where he founded the Pre-Law Society, and his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law in 1993. At Loyola, he competed on the Wagner Moot Court Team and was the student liaison and attended Loyola’s programs in Rome, Italy and London, England.

Mr. Lange is authorized to practice law in Illinois and in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and Northern District of Indiana. He has also represented clients in matters pending in state and federal courts in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Professional Associations
Mr. Lange is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Olympic Organization Committee Alumni Association.

Honors
Mr. Lange was selected to the Mortar Board National Honor Society in 1988. He also received the Loyola Award for Excellence in Leadership and Service in 1993.
