A founding partner of the firm, Douglas J. Palandech focuses his litigation practice on construction, professional liability, products liability and first party property cases. He has tried numerous professional liability cases for design professionals, architects, engineers, and surveyors. He has successfully tried to verdict personal injury, property damage and death cases. Mr. Palandech was the trial attorney in Sisson v. Hatteras Yachts, a case which had profound significance in establishing contours of federal admiralty jurisdiction. He also has tried to verdict a number of construction cases and, with founding partner Matthew Ponzi, jointly tried first-party claims in the Federal District Court of Oklahoma arising out of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Palandech is a speaker on current products liability and construction related issues.

Education
Mr. Palandech earned his B.A. degree from the University of Texas, magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa), in 1973 and his J.D. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology/Chicago-Kent College of Law, cum laude, in 1977.

Mr. Palandech is authorized to practice law in Illinois and in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Texas, and Southern District of Florida. He has also represented clients in matters pending in state and federal courts in Florida, Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Indiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, California, Washington, Minnesota, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Missouri.

Mr. Palandech is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Illinois Defense Counsel, American Bar Association and Serbian-American Bar Association. He has served as a director and officer of the Serbian-American Bar Association, including its President (1994–1995), and is a member of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys.
