Overview

Olivia focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters, with experience providing guidance to insurance carriers regarding matters such as bad faith claims and premises liability cases related to first- and third-party defense. This familiarity with first and third- parties provides Olivia a well-rounded view of her clients’ issues. She has conducted legal research for state, federal and 10th Circuit appellate cases and has participated in complex mediation, arbitrations, trials and settlement agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Olivia served as an associate at two insurance defense firms in Colorado where she managed construction and personal injury cases. Prior to these roles, she worked at the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, representing the Board in legal proceedings and providing counsel on regulatory matters and the Department of Family and Protective Services trying cases involving child abuse and child neglect before the State Office of Administrative Hearings.

Community Leadership

Olivia serves as an associate at a human services agency where she aids a refugee family and has contributed her time to Refugee Services of Texas. She previously volunteered at a local animal shelter and served as a registration volunteer for blood donor services.

Education

Olivia earned her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2014 after completing her B.A. in International Relations from the College of William and Mary in 2010.

While in law school, Olivia served in many roles related to immigration advocacy including interning at the United States Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Immigrant & Refugee Appellate Center and a D.C.-based Immigration Legal Services program.  In these roles, she drafted successful appellate briefs for asylum clients submitted to the Board of Immigration Appeals; investigated cases for potential attorney, alien or notario fraud; reviewed complaints against attorneys for ethics violations and guided clients on various applications, including family-based and employment-based petitions, as well as DACA status.
