Overview
El Shon Richmond is a veteran litigator and talented trial advocate with diverse experience in handling complex civil litigation in the areas of employment law, insurance defense, governmental tort defense, premises liability, personal injury, and civil rights defense. With over 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, he has served as lead counsel in an array of complex matters and tried cases to jury verdicts in both state and federal courts.
El Shon primarily advises and defends insured clients, private employers and public entities in first-party insurance disputes, employment law matters (including discrimination, harassment, accommodation, wage and hour, wrongful discharge and retaliation claims, as well as labor / grievance arbitrations and disciplinary appeals), personal injury and other tort litigation. He is known for his clear guidance, strategic case management and persuasive advocacy. El Shon’s experience spans all stages of litigation, including discovery, dispositive motions, mediation, federal and state jury trials and appeals. He also has experience leading litigation teams and mentoring junior attorneys.
Before joining Foran Glennon, El Shon served as an Assistant Attorney General in Washington State for over a decade. He also managed litigation at national and regional defense firms in Nashville and represented insured employers before the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, the EEOC and in state and federal courts.

Education
El Shon earned his J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1996, where he was a member of the National Tort Trial Competition Team. He completed his B.S. in Radio, Television and Marketing at Arkansas State University in 1993.
