Overview

Greta Matzen focuses her practice on insurance coverage counseling and litigation for commercial and specialty clients nationwide, drawing from over two decades of experience spanning both in-house and outside counsel roles.

Greta represents commercial and specialty insurers as lead litigation counsel in complex coverage disputes involving a wide array of underlying claims and advises clients about coverage, underwriting, and agency issues in non-litigated coverage matters. Insurance companies rely on Greta to find practical, efficient paths to resolution of complex coverage disputes involving product liability, construction defect, environmental, mass tort, clergy and abuse litigation, public entity, management, transportation, and commercial property claims. Greta also handles coverage issues and coverage litigation involving underlying attorney malpractice, advertising injury, health care, and directors and officers’ liability. She also guides clients through questions of bad faith, agency and broker relationships, policy language, underwriting, and extra-contractual risk, and drafts coverage opinions and position letters for disputed claims.

Prior to joining Foran Glennon, Greta held lead in-house roles at major insurance carriers, providing her with a unique perspective into how claims and underwriting professionals address policy language disputes. Additionally, she managed a U.S. team of coverage litigators at a global specialty carrier and advised claim leadership from within a corporate law department. Most recently, Greta served as a Partner at a national insurance coverage firm, where she helped develop and lead the firm’s Denver team.
