Senior Accountant – Chicago

Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi and Rudloff PC, an insurance litigation law firm with ten offices, seeks a Senior Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of law firm accounting experience.

The Senior Accountant will assist with accounting functions relating to both our domestic and international offices. This position handles payroll, prepares financial statements, forecasting, backup for accounts payable and receivable, and helps implement various projects used to increase overall efficiency in the department. He or she should have the desire to understand how all back-office functions of a law firm operates.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle deposits for all offices.
  • Process payroll and all coordinating calculations and journal entries.
  • Maintain the trust account in compliance with bar requirements.
  • Reconcile bank statements, and general ledger accounts daily.
  • Update monthly schedules and post associated journal entries as part of the close process.
  • Prepare and file all schedules for all audits as well as all business, property, and use tax returns.
  • Develop the annual budget and reconcile operating results to forecast monthly.
  • Draft monthly and quarterly reporting financial statements for management.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills. They must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office suites with advanced skills in Excel, and have the ability to handle multiple assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment about be able to meet strict time deadlines. Juris and Paylocity experience is preferred. We are looking for a dependable team player who is capable of working with minimal supervision.

Compensation will be based upon level of experience in a range of $75,000 to $80,000 annually with the possibility of year-end bonus. In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible to participate in the Firm’s benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, and pet insurance, 401(k) with discretionary profit-sharing, Employee Assistance Program, subsidized onsite gym membership, transit benefit program, and enrollment without any premiums in the Firm’s short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance policies.
