HR Generalist – Chicago

Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff PC, an international law firm with ten offices, is seeking a full-time HR Generalist to join our Chicago office. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support a broad range of HR functions, including onboarding and offboarding, benefits and 401(k) enrollment, COBRA, time and attendance tracking, state-mandated training, employee relations, performance management, annual state bar licensing reporting and renewals.
  • Monitor employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices to help ensure the Firm’s policies, handbook, and day-to-day practices remain current and compliant.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees, providing guidance, support, and timely follow-up on HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Assist with workplace reviews and employee matters, helping ensure fair, consistent and thoughtful application of Firm policies and procedures.
  • Partner in the performance management process by supporting compensation discussions, goal setting, evaluations, and constructive employee feedback.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Review/respond to annual, mandated USDOL/BLS surveys.
  • Assist with negotiations/maintenance/renewal of benefit plans, business insurance policies, vendor contracts, 401(k) audit and annual 5500 filings.
  • Help design and deliver employee training initiatives and professional development opportunities that support growth and long-term success.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly in a multi-state environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, judgment, and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build strong, effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; iManage experience is a plus.
  • Prior Law firm experience is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Manager role.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, skills, and business needs. The estimated base salary range is $75,000-$90,000 annually.
