Overview

Kyle Gretel concentrates his practice on insurance coverage matters, with a focus on complex first-party property coverage disputes. He handles matters on behalf of domestic and international insurers, tailoring matter-specific resolution strategies based on the needs and circumstances of each individual case, including through appraisal, mediation, arbitration and litigation. Kyle also assists insurers with the investigation of claims by providing coverage analysis, conducting EUOs and is the go-to for insurers looking to avoid unnecessary expense and understand exposure.

Prior to joining Foran Glennon, Kyle served as an associate attorney at an Am Law 200 firm in Tampa, focusing on first-party property insurance disputes and litigation arising from catastrophes (hurricanes and flood), collapse, earth movement, plumbing and matters involving trigger of coverage issues. He also previously gained experience as an associate at a civil trial firm in Tampa, where he litigated all stages of first-party property and personal injury matters, as well as helping to establish a robust first-party property practice through development and implementation of litigation and claim strategy guidelines. Kyle also has experience representing contractors in payment and project/performance related disputes.

Experience:

  • Assisted a group of domestic and international insurers for loss involving a crane impact to an insured building where the insured claimed insured loss exceeding $100M.
  • Represented market of insurers regarding alleged loss to a commercial on-land fish farming facility with alleged insured losses exceeding $45M.
  • Assisted insurers to reach successful resolution of a claim for alleged damage due to collapse of portions of an insured building located in Miami, FL, in the wake of Miami’s Surfside Condominium collapse.

Kyle is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

Education

Kyle earned his J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and M.B.A. from Stetson University in 2018 after completing his B.S., cum laude, in Finance and Political Science in 2013 from Florida State University.

While in law school, Kyle clerked for a Florida construction law firm and worked as a research assistant to a professor evaluating money in politics. He earned Highest Grade Designations in Business Entities, Remedies and Bankruptcy Seminar, and was awarded the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association’s Judge Alexander Paskay Bankruptcy Award. Kyle also served as the vice president of the Investment and Finance Law Association.
