Overview
Andrew Ames’s primary areas of practice encompass bankruptcy law and civil litigation, utilizing his experience of representing debtors in previous roles to offer strategic guidance to companies navigating bankruptcy insurance coverage disputes. His adept problem-solving within the Bankruptcy Code framework ensures effective resolution for the client in this fast-paced environment.
Prior to joining the firm, Andy served as an associate attorney for two Chicago-based firms, overseeing bankruptcy caseloads in both the Northern and Central districts of Illinois. Additionally, he served as assistant attorney general for the Illinois Attorney General, representing the state in workers’ compensation claims, prosecuting offenders and negotiating with opposing parties.

Andy has provided pro bono services at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
Education
Andy earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2020 after completing his B.A. in Human Development and Family Science from the Ohio State University in 2017.
During law school, he served as a legal assistant and law clerk at separate Ohio bankruptcy firms. In these roles, he managed communications with the United States Bankruptcy Court and trustees, supported clients through the bankruptcy process as well as drafted and filed legal documents related to bankruptcy law.
He also gained experience as a legal compliance intern at a Chicago-based bankruptcy firm, focusing on monitoring client consultations and suggesting procedural improvements as well as served as a law clerk with the City of Chicago’s Department of Law where he conducted pre-trial litigation with defendants regarding civil matters and negotiated resolution agreements.

Andy is authorized to practice in Illinois and the United States District Courts for the Central and Northern Districts of Illinois.
