Overview

Cody McNearney concentrates his practice in civil litigation, with a primary focus on professional negligence. He represents clients in diverse litigation issues and diligently defends businesses and professionals against professional liability. Cody excels in motions for summary judgment and taking and defending depositions. His proficiency extends to meticulous case build-up, ensuring thorough readiness for courtroom proceedings.

Prior to joining the firm, Cody was an associate at a renowned California defense law firm managing various aspects of complex medical malpractice cases including written discovery, taking and defending depositions, law and motion and settlement negotiations.

Cody is also a veteran of the Unites States Army. As a healthcare specialist, he was directly involved with different levels of patient care, shaping his interest in legal healthcare.

Cody was honored with the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law’s Capital Commendation for Public Service Award in 2022.

Education

Cody earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2022, with a concentration in Elder and Health Law. Prior to law school, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Montana, graduating cum laude in 2019.

While in law school, Cody served as the president of the Military Law Society where he coordinated several fundraisers to aid local low-income residents. He also completed an externship at the school’s pro bono legal aid services, assisting low-income elderly residents with their estate planning, probate, construction law and civil litigation needs.
