Overview

Ivan Guzmán Daquial concentrates his practice on personal injury and property damage defense litigation. His background in criminal law has sharpened his courtroom instincts, litigation strategy, and ability to navigate high-stakes, complex matters. He approaches each matter with a thorough command of procedural rules, keen attention to detail, and proven ability to perform under pressure.

Prior to joining Foran Glennon, Ivan gained hands-on legal experience as an Assistant Public Defender for the Albany County Public Defender’s Office, where he appeared in court, negotiated with opposing counsel, and managed matters from intake through resolution. He also served as Student Attorney in the Barton Juvenile Defender Clinic at Emory School of law, a Student Prosecutor at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, and assisted defense attorneys as a Law Clerk at an established criminal law firm.

Professional Leadership

Ivan is a member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association and the Filipino American Lawyers Association of New York.

Honors & Recognition

In June 2026, Ivan received the Knights of Rizal of Long Island’s 2026 Youth Leadership Award for his service to and engagements with the New York Filipino-American community. In 2025, he won the Eliza Elison Prize in Law and Religion at Emory University School of Law’s Center for the Study of Law and Religion for his leadership in the field.

Education

Ivan earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2025 with a Law and Religion Concentration Certificate after completing his B.A., summa cum laude, in Political Science and Philosophy in 2022 from University of Albany, SUNY.

During law school, Ivan developed a well-rounded legal background through work in both defense and prosecution. Additionally, he was a Staff Member of the school’s Journal of Law and Religion, and participated in the Emory Law School Supreme Court Advocacy Program, International Moot Court Competition in Law and Religion, and Stange Moot Court Competition.
