A shareholder in the firm, Jim Glennon concentrates his practice in the areas of loss recovery/subrogation, first-party property insurance coverage, casualty litigation, products liability and construction litigation. In 2013, Jim was the lead plaintiff’s counsel at a trial that resulted in the 54th highest verdict in the entire United States. Jim also obtained an arbitration award in favor of his clients in an amount in excess of $100 million. Jim also was lead counsel in an international coverage dispute in which the court found in favor of insurers in which damages in an amount in excess of US$50 million were claimed.

In addition to his extensive domestic and international litigation experience, Jim also represents excess liability insurers in the role as monitoring counsel in the energy sector in claims involving catastrophic injuries or extensive damages.  In addition, Jim has served as a presenter on numerous insurance related topics, published articles on various litigation related topics, and served as a panelist on America’s Best Lawyers on SkyRadio.

Given that Jim’s practice includes matters throughout the United States and internationally, Jim frequently works in Foran Glennon’s California, Chicago, Las Vegas and London offices.

Jim is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Clark County, Nevada Bar Association, the Lake County, Indiana Bar Association and the International Association of Defense Counsel.

Honors & Recognition

Jim has a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® peer rating, indicating the highest ranking in legal ability and ethical standards as determined by peers in the legal community.

He has also been named to the Illinois Super Lawyers list. This honor is based on nomination, evaluation of professional achievements and selection by a panel of attorneys in the applicable practice area. Only 5% of the total attorneys in each state receive the Super Lawyers designation.

Additionally, Jim has been named a Leading Lawyer by Law Bulletin Media, a peer-recommended distinction awarded to fewer than 5% of attorneys in Illinois as well as honored on the Best Lawyers in America list for his work in Insurance Law.

Jim’s Verdict in the ArcelorMittal v. WESCO Distribution, Crown Point, Indiana (2013) trial was recognized as the 54th Highest Verdict in the United States in 2013.

Jim earned his B.A. degrees in Government and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 and his J.D. degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1988. He was also a member of Loyola’s Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Team, the Midwest Regional Champion. 


Jim is authorized to practice law in Illinois, Nevada, Indiana, and California as well as in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern Districts of Illinois and Indiana, Districts of Nevada and Oregon, and the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California. He is also a Registered Foreign Counsel in the United Kingdom.
